A Seesaw of Feelings
I
am torn, I am lost
in between two countries
My
heart loves them both,
My
thoughts live in both.
When
I'm there,
my heart is here;
When
I'm here,
my toughts are there.
I'm
riding a seesaw in between two worlds.
I
ask myself, do you feel this way?
Why
this deep confusion inside?
Why
do you feel like you're lost at sea,
searching for shore,
Fighting
the tidal waves’ outward pull,
Deafened
by their endless roar?
My
tears give no answers to why
I'm
lost, why I'm torn in between.
My
mind wanders among its tangled dreams
On
a seesaw between here and there.

Tormented
Cries
My
friend in Kenya,
I
hear your sufferings.
Women's
genitals being cut out
By
her family members
Father,
and brother by force.
They
said, it's our custom,
We
have been doing it centuries
"this
is a circumsize ritual."
But
it doesn't make it right,
It's
an inhuman act.
Because
custom set by men to control women.
They
don't want you to have feelings to enjoy sex,
That
is why they circumsize you, unwillingly.
This
is an act of torture.
My
friend in Africa, Kenya,
You're
a woman just like me.
I
hear your pain,
Not
been able to stop this torture,
I
feel sorrow as a human being.
That
is shame still continues in this century,
We
must stop this inhuman act.
My
friend in Kenya,
I
hear your tormented cries,
I
feel your pain,
Your
suffering and screams
Echoes
in my mind.
