Approaching Lights
Energy is produced by contrasts. Light is fast; it flows, streams and is turbulent. Darkness is less flexible; it is the unlit space, the dark room, the unconcious. My work reflects the structures of our environment, both light and dark, fluid and hard, organic and inorganic.
The Hot Gates I seek to cultivate what is specific to painting, what makes it different from every other visual medium. Painting gives us something that we cannot express with words. It is a direct and spontaneous, movement and color. Painting does not mirror reality. At its best, it is a deeply felt reaction to the experience of life.
Ancient Pulse My work is directed toward a deeper understanding of universal structures in nature and the human mind. I am interested in the basic conflicts and patterns that together define the human condition. My work seeks to portray a view that is universal rather than particular.
Approaching Light This view helps us see
things in their wider context, and thereby to transcend narrow personal
concerns. The work contains pictorial ideas aimed at finding a unique
painterly expression, but also aims to deal with mythology and archetypes.
I constantly search for a strong expression that reaches beyond what
is possible with words. In the end it is a quest for the beautiful. E-mail to Marianne Angersbach
