In the panel organized to support Fugen and to increase awareness amongst our community on this issue, a documentary prepared by Haluk Sahin will be showed and after the documentary, a panel with the speakers, Haluk Sahin, Dogan Uluc and Nancy Erickson will follow. After the questions&answers, the book titled "ELEKTRONIK PRANGALI KADIN:FUGEN GULERTEKIN" will be signed and sold by Haluk Sahin. The collected amount will be donated to Fugen Gulertekin Trust Funds, in order to gather the funds for re-opening the process for Fugen Gulertekin.

The reason for this Panel: IT IS IMPERATIVE TO STOP THIS UNFAIRNESS!

Fugen Gulertekin, known to the Turkish media as "Elektronik Prangali Kadin/A Woman with Elecktronic Fetter", while trying to save the life of a baby that was choking while drinking its baby formula by was found guilty by the jury of "shaken baby syndrome". Fugen, mother of two, who wanted help in order to take the baby to the hospital has been confronted to unfair treatment. The deciding powers, not being happy with 8 years of imprisonment, now try to take the house that her husband and her daughter live in by legally enforced ways.

In order to support Fugen, who was unfairly sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment by the Ohio State Courts, and in order to re-open the case, a campaign has been started by the New York based Federation of Turkish American Associations & Bircan Unver.

How can we help her?

Although Fugen has saved a life and the baby is still alive thanks to her, she has been confront to a criminal case in the state of Ohio for the amount of 10 million dollars. In order to re-open the case that resulted in an unfair outcome for Fugen because of the mistakes done during the trial, the attitude of the jury and the negative effect of the media, Egemen Bagis, the President of the Federation, stated that those who want to participate in this campaign can send their donations to the account number opened by Nancy Erickson.
