Dear
friends:
We
are organizing a poetry reading on the theme of "Peace
and Woman"
starting at 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 24th,
sponsored
by the Federation of Turkish American Assembly. We will be meeting
on the second floor of
the Turkish House with our poems from Turkey and from
around the world.
We
are asking you to seek poems that have to do with
peace
as well as with the role of women in society.
With
the idea that arts and sharing is our most powerful weapon,
we are inviting
you to take the microphone and read the poems you've selected
or have
written on the subject, with live music in the background,
together
with friends and loved ones, old and new.
Because
of the number of participants, which we expect to be around
fifty, there
will be a time limit for each reader of 3 minutes.
The
details of the program is going to be formed with your
interest and the
poems of your choice.
For this reason please send your poems by e-mail
as
soon as possible to contact@lightmillennium.org or
bircanunver@earthlink.net
We
will need all your information, your names, and the titles
of your poems, to
include on our invitation by April 7th.
If the same poem is selected by more
than one participant, than it will be determined on a
first come first serve
basis.
Whether
you read or merely come to listen, YOU will help us spread
our longing
for peace and our appreciation of women in society, since
peace would
not be possible if a society were without its women. We expect all poetry
and peace lovers to join us at this event, and know that
we will share
an unforgettable night that will remain in our memories.
With
the hope of coming together for a night with light, poetry
and music...
