PROJECT TITLE

The LIGHT MILLENNIUM

A GLOBAL FORCE

ON THE THIRD MILLENNIUM

A HOPE, A REASON, and CONTACT INFO

Hello Dear Friends,

With this introductory issue, we will be forming, developing and
improving the ideas for the magazine as well as expanding its
contributors and potential readers.

I will be in charge of collecting materials, preparing the magazine, and
electronically publishing it every other month, at least until I get some
help.

My goal is to gather persons from various professions and cultures to
create our own realm, all in order to hypothesize about the third millennium,
and at the same time forcing ourselves to think how we can shape our future in a
positive way...

Factually, I would propose three standards which, while not the only ones
are still very important in gauging human happiness --the ability to comminicate
with other people, the ability to physically be with other people, the ability
to live a long and healthy life, and the ability to live free of physical
repression. Obviously, we are far from eliminating problems in these areas.

Philosophically/tactically, I think more can be accomplished, both
practically and in persuasion, by focusing more upon expanding upon our
positive achievements of the past, rather than on hating our failures.

Of course, we have to focus upon our failures to learn from them, but
that is different than defining ourselves (or others) in terms of those
failures.

Focusing strongly upon failures as a way of getting of something new
prevents one from capitalizing upon past successes, and also favors radical
revolutionary change. This is far more diffucult to persuade people to make
happen and is more likely to result in unintended negative consequences than
is step-by-step change. I am all for creativity, but completely trying to
reinvent the world denies us the use of many tools at our disposal to improve
the world bit by bit.

In this abstract concept, if you are interesting to improve the world bit
by bit, then you are a part of The Light Millennium Internet magazine.

Your time and consideration in this matter are greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Bircan Unver
