THE MILLENNIUM

by James S. Li

A book was opened in the beginning.
The clock began ticking.
The calendar began counting.
The world began changing.
The continents began changing.
New countries were born.

Languages were introduced around the world.
Science and technology made even more powerful changes.
The mysteries of the world and universe were solved one by one.
Tick tock, tick tock, the clock continued to tick forward.

Sixty seconds accumulated to a minute.
Sixty minutes accumulated to an hour.
Twenty-four hours accumulated to a day.
Seven days accumulated to a week.
A little more than four weeks accumulated to a month.
Twelve months accumulated to a year.
Ten years accumulated to a decade.
Ten decades accumulated to a century.

Finally, ten centuries accumulated to a millennium.
This book is now about to close and become history.
A new book will soon be opened.
The clock and calendar will start all over again, accumulating time.
Who knows what will happen?
We'll find out in the new book some day.
