Producer Arif Mardin Wins
"Producer Of The Year Award"
at the 45th Grammy Awards

Arif
Mardin: Producer of the Year - 2003
It
certainly was a big night for Norah Jones, as she scooped
up an unprecedented eight Grammy Awards in of all the
major categories on Sun, Feb 28th. One name that was part
of this phenomenal success but remained out of the spotlight
was well known music connoisseur Arif Mardin who produced
Norah Jones’ debut album “Come Away With Me.”
The album received awards for all the eight categories
it was nominated for including Album of the Year, Record
of the Year and Best New Artist. Mr. Mardin received
the prestigious Producer of the Year Grammy for a non-classical
recording.
In a Light Millennium interview made in August 2001, Mr.
Mardin told us, “I’m looking for projects
that I can enjoy at this age like jazz, or esoteric projects.
I want to make that project cross over and become commercial.”
The 45th Grammy Awards have validated his words
from two years ago. As Arif Mardin continues to captivate
audiences with his productions and sounds, he is also
living proof that one can always achieve success by believing
in what he does and working diligently.
Mr.
Mardin recently produced a new record by Melissa Errico
whose impressive showbiz resume includes roles on Broadway
(High Society, My Fair Lady) in film (Life or Something
Like It) and on TV (Ed, The Norm Show). The album "Blue
Like That" was released on February 25th. His other
project with jazz singer Diane Reeves will be released
in August 2003.
We hereby congratulate him on his recent success and wish
the best for his upcoming projects. (Mehmet Dede)
