INTRODUCTION

When Peace Comes - Poetry Writing & Reading event dedicated to the Children of the World as well as to encourage creativity of the children and youth in accordance with the Children's Day which is a gift from Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, great leader and founder of Turkey. The event was held on April 23, 2004 in New York City.(Profile of the event - April 23, 2004)

This was the organization's very first children & youth poetry event that aimed to encourage the children and the youth globally, to write new poems based on given themes in order to read during the event as well as to publish them on the web site. Thus, as the second part of the project, we are honored to represent these poems on the Light Millennium's Spring/Summer 2004, 14th Issue: http://lightmillennium.org

The event was produced without any grants and funds; but with the participations of Atatürk Elementary School, Amity School, Pioneer Academy of Science, Townsend Harris High School, Hillcrest High School, and HAFTR High School. We are thankful to all the participanting schools and the sponsors of the event. We also plan to organize this project in April 2005, with an expanding participations by various schools and organizations.

The entries of this project came from the 2nd grade of elementary schools on to high schools, as well as adults from the US and Europe.

The Spring/Summer 2004 issue represents 1/4 of the entries from the "When Peace Comes Poetry Event - 2004", and reflects other issues that are dedicated and related to children; and also stories and articles, as well as social and global issues in general.
