Altındağ Municipality from Turkey, will attend representing Turkey with succesful works for women, the meeting that called "Commission on the Status of Women 55. Meeting", between the date of February 22 and March 4, held by the United Nations in New York.
Women Educational and Cultural Centers opened by Altındağ Municipality, at 22 different neighborhoods in the last 6 years, will be an example and was concidered to promote to all of the world. At the meeting that will be attend in United Nations, will be explained the lives of women who changed their lives by Women Educational and Cultural Centers.
Educational and Cultural Centers opened by Altındağ Municipality will be explained at the meeting room No:1 at United Nations, between 13:15 and 14:45, February 28. Women Educational and Cultural Centers opened by Altındağ Municipality, at 22 different neighborhoods in the last 6 years, and attended by 35 thousand women will be an example to the world.

The Mayor of the district of Altındağ Mr. Veysel Tiryaki have explained that United Nations realized the successful of Women Educational and Cultural Centers in Altındağ. He said that “Becasue of that, we are very happy and proud.”
Altındağ Municipality will attend this meeting at UN with Minister of State responsible for women and families Selma Aliye Kavaf, Member of Parliament from Ankara Aşkın Asan, academics and journalists. Before meeting at UN, Altındağ Municipality will open an exhibition about women in Altındağ and they will organize official meeting in Turkish Embassy. In this time Mayor of Altındağ Municipality Veysel Tiryaki “I would like to meet with media officers and journalists in New York.” said.

The capital of the Republic of Turkey, the foundation stone of Ankara, is Altındağ… Altındağ is the district where the history is written, the history is experienced and the history is kept alive… Ankara is the meaning of Altındağ… Now, Altındağ is meaning of hope…
Being a woman is difficult in every part of the world…However, being a woman is much more difficult in Altındağ… The people who migrated from their villages to the greater cities and capitals many may years ago with the hope of living a more decent life.
Many changes have occurred in Altındağ in a short time. And it has been women who were most affected by this change. Altındağ Municipality has opened Women Educational and Cultural Centers for women in 22 different neighborhoods in the last 6 years. Today, these centers are attended by 35 thousand women. Women, who are watching life pass by from their houses in the past, are now in the social life.
The women who became members of these centers, stating that their lives have been revived, they have become more conscious and more healthy. The courses are opening a new window in the lives of the women. These are: Literacy, Mother and Child Education, Marbling, Illumination, Patching, Furniture, Oil painting, Wood painting, Fabric painting, String bending, Jewelry design, Tie dyeing, Stained glass, Soap, Home accessories, Stone dolls, Diction, Computer, English, Skin care, Manicure, Pedicure, Hairdresser, Folklore, Turkish classical music, Turkish folk music, Violin, Oud, Zither, Saz courses in the Women Educational and Cultural Centers which have been opened in 22 different district in Altındağ.

Prof. Nilüfer Narlı, Bahçeşehir University, Sociology Department, Department Chair “ She holds a degree in education with a major in Philosophy and minor in Sociology; and MSc in Humanities with a major in Logic, the Philosophy of Science and Philosophy from Middle Eastern Technical University, Ankara. She holds a PhD in Social Sciences with a major in Political Sociology from the School of Comparative Social Sciences, University Sains Malaysia. Prof. Narli was granted Eisenhower Fellowship in 1993.
She is a Full professor of Political Sociology at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Bahcesehir University. She was Vice Rector of the university till September 2006. Currently, she is chairing Sociology Department she founded. Before being appointed as Vice-rector on September 1 2005, she was the founding Dean to the Faculty of Communication at Kadir Has University (October 2003-August 2005). Before that, she had been the founding chair of Sociology Department at Marmara University, where she also chaired the Sociology and Anthropology Department of the Middle East Studies Institute. She was visiting scholar at Maryland University (during the summer of 2007.”
