How to become an
active member & participant?
$1 OPEN MEMBERSHIP - PARTNERSHIP CAMPAIGN
Light Millennium is an open alternative global
multi-media platform and cultural organization for ALL since its inception.
The organization does not serve to a limited group
or community or to annual fee based members.
It aims to present diverse ideas from all walks of
life and from all social and economic levels globally. It is a unique, alternative platform which encourages
intellectual productivity and strives to present these ideas in order to
increase the number of its active participants regularly on its multi-platforms.
The ideas presented from a multi-diverse perspective will serve to a wider
spectrum in order to reach the aim of “fostering global connectivity” in
accordance with the “Mission & Vision” of the organization.
Since its “Introduction” issue (1999) up to date,
the Light Millennium has been able to operate, produce and run all its programs
based on 100% volunteer contributions, in terms of production, labor-time,
skill, content, reaching-out; and in-collaborations and in-kinds donations for
its public programs such as:
* Lightmillennium.Org –in English-;
* Isikbinyili.Org –in Turkish-;
* Turkishgreeksynergy.Net –in English & Turkish- as total 42 issue
e-publications;
* Light Millennium TV Programs (more than 60) on Queens Public TV’s 4
channels#34, 35, 56 & 57 since January 2000, and
* Public programs including the United Nations (more than 55).
Although, since the beginning (1999), the
organization has aimed to e-publish the Light Millennium global platform
monthly in English, and also has aimed to be published in at least 3
different languages in order to present a diverse cultural background, this has
not been possible.
In order to be able to take further steps towards
the Light Millennium’s mission as well as to sustain the organization’s present
and future, we have come to a point where we need to involve all potential interested people as open and “Online”
members and partners of the organization. For this purpose, we propose a
contribution of $1 from each member that will be listed on the organization's
web site.
We aim to have 1 million open members &
partners in the next 5 years, hoping this will eventually enable us to sustain
the organization, make publications in 3 to 5 languages, and move from local
public television programs (LMTV on QPTV.Org) to LM-Internet TV, as well as
launch book printing based on the Light Millennium’s original content and
public programs.
Definition of the $1 Open Membership:
* We
plan to launch our newly $1 "Open On-Line Membership & Donation"
mechanism through NYCharities.Org.

* We will consider our On-Line open members as the
organization's partners locally, nationwide and globally.
Open Membership will be on an annual basis and under the following categories:
a) Monthly $1X12= $12 (If desired, member’s full name/company name, mailing address along
with an e-mail address, and logo or web site will be e-published under this
category on the organization's website).
b) Bimonthly $1X6= $6 (If desired, member’s full name/company name along with an e-mail
address and related website will be e-published under this category on the
organization's website).
c) Quarterly $1X4= $4 (If desired, member’s full name/company name along with an e-mail
address will be e-published under this category).
d) Twice a year $1X2= $2 (If desired, member’s name or company name will be listed under this
category).
e) Once a year $1X1-$1: (If desired, member’s name or company name will be listed under this
category).

The $1 membership will empower both the member and
the organization as we move further. Once we reach our target, it will enable
us to become the voice of all globally. Further, we expect your active
involvement and participation in the organization based on your interest,
ideas, education, profession, skills, or hobbies. By doing so, you can present
yourself, show the ways of how you imagine an ideal human being, share your
experience, or come up with a project that can be implemented with the LM, or
you can contribute through your profession which will also be a great
contribution.
The $1 open membership concept and to reach and
present a minimum of 1 million active participants annually has been one of the
main dreams of the Light Millennium. This is also abstractly mentioned in its
very first announcement of the
501-c-3 status granted.
We would like to invite all potentially interested
people to become open members and partners of the organization that will
greatly empower the organization for its sustainability and affectivity
globally both in the short and long runs.
Whether you choose to become an open member &
partner of the organization or not, you are WELCOME to submit your ideas to be
e-published in one of our existing platforms.
In our 9th Anniversary, despite our full volunteer
efforts and existing capacity in order to operate and run the Light Millennium,
the organization has NOT been able to sustain itself. Also, we couldn't meet
our previously announced deadlines for the e-publication and television
programs because of our worn out equipment and outdated software programs, and
the absence of overheads and any paid staff.
However, we believe strongly that within the
mission and vision of the Light Millennium, in order to reach out to the
largest diverse group as well as to present them, we can accomplish this with
$1 open membership & become a partner campaign based on the above-mentioned
list of criteria.
And, when we have 1 million open on-line members with 1 million on-line
partners, that will be the corner stone of the organization to accomplish its
long awaited dream so that we can add to our existing programs or previously promoted projects such as:
* Monthly e-publication in 3 to 5 languages
* Book printing
* Move onto Internet TV in parallel to local television channels
* To produce more frequently educational, art, literary public programs based
on in-collaborations with various institutions and NGOs annually
*
To produce international documentary projects
such as “Parade of Faces: Who Speaks for Turkey?” with Stephen Kinzer; “Cadirhoyuk:
A Multi-Faceted Ancient City”; “Nazim Hikmet: On the Twentieth Century”; “All
Ideas: Freedom of Expression in Turkey”; “Time in the Eastern Mediterranean:
Adalet Agaoglu”; Turkish-Greek Synergy.
* Multi-Faceted Poetry Writing Projects such as “When Peace Comes”.
* Literary Writing Projects such as “Rumi & Clarke Inspirational Writing
Awards Project” (Educational – targets from elementary to high schools)
* "Rumi Video Production Awards" – Educational, targets
collaborations with college and universities’ related departments..
* “Light Millennium Global Diversity Home and School” project
* Turkish-Armenian Synergy Initiative
* To be more active in leading
programs at the United Nations
-To involve as participant and producer in various international conferences
-Organizing international conferences, symposiums, art – culture –
exchange cultural festivals & educational programs
- Playing a key role for removing prejudices and
bringing and presenting together various community and diverse cultural
backgrounds side by side on various platforms locally, nation-wide and
internationally. |
Based upon success of our $1 on-line member-partner
campaign, the organization aims to realize its pre-defined and introduced
programs, initiatives and projects. Accordingly, LM will continue to collaborate
or partner with the existing and
new educational institutions, NGOs, non-profits, private sector, foundations, individuals,
the United Nations, and other global major institutions, who will bring in a
completely new perspective to its overall perception as a decisively
contributing organization to promoting and presenting “freedom of expression”
from all walks of life as well as to “global peace culture.” By doing so, the
organization aspires to become one of the “key” “alternative media and culture”
organizations globally.
Disclosure: The Board of Directors of the Light
Millennium approved to launch this project in its November 2007 BoD Meeting.
The worn-out equipment, necessity to renew the software programs and
incompatibility issues led delay in launching this campaign as planned .
