THE LIGHT MILLENNIUM TELEVISION - LMTV
15th Anniversary Program - VIDEO
The Light Millennium Television (LMTV) was launched at Queens Public TV (qptv.org) on January 13, 2000 by Bircan Ünver (Unver for English) as a series of independent programs including themes of literature, poetry, art & artists, culture, peace, United Nations, freedom of expression, Millennium Development Goals, and global issues. Since then LMTV has been producing under the umbrella of The Light Millennium organization for LMTV as "series" or "special" or both. The organization holds a tax exempt status #501-c-3 effective on July 17, 2001, and an NGO has associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information since 2005.
2000-2007: The Light Millennium TV - Presented Monthly Series on QPTV Channels (QPTV.Org).
2008-2010: LMTV Presented Specials at QPTV Channels.
2011, LMTV presented both a monthly series along with specials at Queens Public TV
2012, and since the first week of January 2012; LMTV has moved up to a WEEKLY series at QPTV.
Starting on July 2012, LMTV Weekly Series also has been expanded to MNN.Org.

Since 2014, newly and some previously produced programs have become available directly under the Lightmillennium.Org website under "The Light Millennium TV" as one of the key components of the organization along with its e-publications and public events.

BIRCAN ÜNVER, Executive Producer, Director, Editor and Host of
The Light Millennium Television (LMTV)
Bircan has launched The Light Millennium Television (LMTV) at Queens Public Television on January 13, 2000 with a monthly series. "On the Twentieth Century: NAZIM HIKMET" documentary program was the very first of the monthly series in that year. Since then she has been Executive Producer and Director of the LMTV in its all aspects. With The Light Millennium's association with the United Nations Department of Public Information as an NGO and a public-benefit multi-media organization in 2005, she produced numerous programs based on the UNNGO Conferences and Millennium Development Goals related.
Bircan has been producing television programs at Queens Public Television since 1992. Prior to that she has received both Studio and Field Production Certificates from Queens Public Television, Flushing, New York. Follow by forming The Light Millennium organization (officially in 2001) and launching the LMTV (2000), she compiled and allocated all of her works including writings, interviews, public events and television programs under her organization LM and LMTV. As an advocate for “freedom of expression” and “public benefit media,” she has compiled and e-published over 57 e-issues and produced over 100 original television programs, garnering several awards. Developed, organized/co-organized, presented/co-presented, over 60 public events. Based on some of those public events, she also produced television programs. The television programs that she had produced from 1992 to 2000; Bircan donated all of them during the formation process of The Light Millennium in 2000, which she is also founder and president of the organization since its official formation based in Queens, New York on July 17, 2001.
Bircan has lectured internationally on freedom of expression, public access television, women-girl rights-secularism, UN, MDGs and presentations on the LM and LMTV over the years including India (Jaipur, 2008), Northern Cyprus (2009), Marmara University, (2009), Yerevan, Armenia (2010), Gedik University, Istanbul (2014), UN NNGO Conferences, NYC (presenter and panelist, 2006, 2014), Delhi, India (2014), UN World Cities Day (2014) Ottawa, Canada (2015) as well as several other occasions and universities in and around New York City and New Jersey (CUNY-GC, Baruch College, Stevens Institute of Technology, and more... She was member of the Media Subcommittee of the 65th UN DPI/NGO Conference, co-directed the panel “A quest to fulfill body and mind Post-2015: Is genetically modified food a solution?” with Julie Mardin at the conference, and was also member of the Planning Committee of the 2nd and 3rd UN High Level Forum on the Culture of Peace (2013, 2014). Bircan holds a master’s degree in Media Studies from the New School University (1999, NYC), and B.A. in Fine Arts from the Mimar Sinan University (1988, Istanbul).
