You are cordially invited to the first program of
the Light Millennium's Fifth Anniversary Celebration
event series, "Reflections from Sri Lanka &
Tsunami," A Power Point Presentation. This
is a presentation in conjunction with a talk by
Ambassador R. Jayasinghe.
Ambassador Jayasinghe for Sri Lanka and Deputy Permanent
Representative for United Nations will be the honorary
guest and speaker of the evening. Ambassador Jayasinghe
will give an update about Sri Lanka and the aftereffect
of Tsunami as well as the ongoing rehabilitation-reconstruction
process and developments in the country since December
26, 2004. In addition, Ambassador Jayasinghe will
give an overview of the "Peace Process of Sri
Lanka."
The presentation will contain selected photographs
from Sri Lanka, which were taken during Bircan Ünver's
trip to Sri Lanka between January 15-February 9,
2005. The photographs will reflect general scenes
from Colombo, Moratowa, Negombo parallel to Sarvodaya
Organization's Tsunami Relief Efforts from Galle,
Ampara, Kalmunai and Killinochichi.About Ambassador
R. Jayasinghe:
Ambassador R. Jayasinghe was born in January 1943.
Prior to his current mission, he served as Director-General,
Political Affairs (East), Director Economic Affairs
and Human Rights, Acting High Commissioner for Sri
Lanka to South Africa; Ambassador of Sri Lanka in
Katmandu, Nepal; Director for Overseas Administration,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sri Lanka; Counselor,
Sri Lanka Embassy in Belgrade, Yugoslavia; First
Secretary, Sri Lanka Embassy in Stockholm Sweden
and hold many other diplomatic positions in Sri
Lanka and outside of Sri Lanka for his country.
Ambassador Jayasinghe is married and has two daughters.
