Title: Grant Writer Intern
Employer: The Light Millennium, UN-Accredited NGO
Organization Description: A Public Benefit Multimedia and Cultural NGO.
Location: New York, NY
Position Type: Unpaid, Internship, Credit or Volunteer
Required Hours Per Week: 30 hours (for min. 4 weeks to 8 weeks period); for Fall semester 20 hours; for Fall and Spring as full year, weekly 12-16 hours.

The Light Millennium is a seeded and growing UN-Accredited nonprofit with many learning opportunities for those with looking to gain experience in grants management and nonprofit business development. We seek motivated, analytical (preferably graduate) students with strong communication and writing skills. Our interns must be willing to learn, understand and represent the mission of Light Millennium and persuasively translate this into incentives for grant-request recipients. Internships are unpaid, but this is an opportunity to gain highly valuable skills and experience.

Responsibilities include:
• Research and identify new sources for grant revenue
• Develop and write grant proposals to foundations, corporations, governments and other funders.
• Maintain and develop relationships with existing funders
• Strong writing, research and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Computer/Internet proficiency

Title: Fundraising Committee Intern/Volunteer

Approximate Hours Per Week: negotiable, but accountable to commitments

The Light Millennium is looking to fill a development position to expand fundraising efforts, to develop strategies to increase and strengthen The Light Millennium’s funding base. If you have experience in coordinating special events, and/or direct customer service, consider yourself a good communicator, organizer, and critical thinker with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively, this may be the position for you. Please contact us even if you can only devote a few hours a month. However, we do ask interns to commit to the time that they agree to. Graduate or Undergraduate students of any field of study are welcome. This internship is a great way to apply your organizational and communication skills in a meaningful way and an opportunity to gain experience in fundraising in the nonprofit sector. Responsibilities include cultivating personal and professional networks and relationships for resource development and strategies for promoting and expanding the organization.
Responsibilities and requirements:

• Identifying new funding opportunities and cultivate new funding sources
• Assist in planning and coordinating special fundraising events
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to provide leadership in fundraising and public relations
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Computer/Internet proficiency
• Assist in contacting prospective donors
• Collecting and inputting donor information in a database

Title: Transcriptor, Copy-Editor

Position Type: Unpaid, Internship, Credit or Volunteer base.

Approximate Hours Per Week: From 8 to 16 hours.

Light Millennium is looking for a few interns to work in its’ editorial/content department, editing content that will generally be featured on our website and could be published in future books. We have a very busy activity flow, so you will get a lot of hands on experience.

Flexible schedules are a must as most editing will be done on an e-mail response basis. Candidates must possess excellent written, grammar, proofreading, and computer skills, and be able to juggle and prioritize many tasks at a time. Please include a brief cover letter explaining your availability and interest.

Responsibilities and requirements below expected from each intern:

• Reviewing publications and preparing website copy
• Assisting in various areas of projects when needed
• Proofreading materials, even e-mails to Board Committee Members or pamphlets distributed for events.
• Are organized and able to meet competing deadlines on a regular basis, responding promptly to e-mails as most editing work will be done electronically
• Computer/Internet proficiency
• Must be responsible and resourceful with a willingness to pitch-in where needed


Position: Volunteer Representatives in your city-country as on-line:

LM Representatives have equal powers with the Advisory Board, and are expected to participate actively and to take responsibility for contributing to content, events, in activating his/her cycle to be part of the organization, as well as be willing to promote the organization's e-publications/programs to his/her circle. Each LM Representative is considered to be a director for that region, city, state or country.
